Literature Text

There once was a girl.
A beautiful girl.
A girl who's life was not her own.

She lived in a white walled box. One side was her father. She watched as he beat her mother, who in turn watched as he beat the girl. Another side was that very mother. Who beat her down with words. Controlling the one thing she could while married to a man like that. Her nurse became a third side. Raising her, but not once standing up for her. The only friend she had. The last wall was built by the girl herself. Too scared of her own thoughts to let them free.

So she looked up. Her box had no ceiling. The girl gazed at the stars. Losing her mind and heart in a place of wonder and freedom. She gazed and hoped that someday one of those stars would come down and take her from this place. One day her wish was granted.

The moment she felt his gaze. The moment she met it. She knew there was no going back. She would never return to the box she'd never truly thought she'd leave. He reached inside and pulled her out, then smoothed his rough touch with a tender kiss that bound them forever. A love that could never be, was born in that moment. A girl who had been trapped was finally set free by the stars she wished upon each night; thus they became the pair of star crossed lovers.

The girl knew she would never be the same. She'd never return to the life she'd known before. She had flown with her star far beyond the point of no return. Though the star had to leave for the sky that morning, her heart and soul were would dwell with him in the heavens until they could be be together again.

Little did the lovers know that a storm brewed not too far off, threatening to block out the light of the star, the one thing the girl had left to live for. When the clouds blotted that light out, the girl saw no more reason to keep going. She would only have to return to her box and she could not do that. Not after her star. She took her life, just as the clouds parted, giving her star a perfect widow to watch. Along with her life, the girl took the star's will to stay up in the sky. He fell to earth and held her in his arms until light went out.

The star crossed lovers died in each others arms that day. The girl had been given a life. The star had found a reason to shine. In one gaze they left their old selves behind and leaped into a life of passion, pain and wonder.

They ignored the point of no return.
They willfully leaped beyond that point.
And they lived completely because of that.
Based on Romeo and Juliet and our production. Inspired by the contest 'Point of No return' by the group Once-in-a-World.

Not the best thing I've ever written, but I needed to write something.
